The Vernal Equinox, on March 20th this year, is a great opportunity to pause and investigate how the first part of the year is going.

A few years ago I stopped making resolutions and creating accomplishments for the year by pulling from the future. I have moved to declaring intentions – similar to the loving kindness practice I teach today and blogged about a few years back.

May I love and accept myself as I am, was the first intention set for 2017

I think of my intentions as seeds to be planted be grown for the year. With spring approaching, I can expand the metaphor; it is time to take my seeds and plant them into soil. The Vernal Equinox, which comes at the end of the end of the first quarter of the business year, gives us each an opportunity to pause and  investigate what intentions, goals or strategies we set and are going to plant into the soil to care for and nurture this year.

May I find the path to true health and deep care

It is also an opportunity to check our integrity. Have I completed my promises for the first part of the year? Am I prepared for a new season in the business cycle as well as at home? What goals did I set in January that really don’t serve me now? What am I going to devote my time to this year? Do I have the clarity and focus needed to move forward?

May I remember to stand for all beings at all times

Take a moment to consider:

  • What do I need to do or say to be complete with the first few months of the year?
  • Where will I put my energy and interest for the rest of the year?
  • What preparations do I need to make personally or professional for this next business cycle?
