As usual I am pushing, pushing myself and pushing the edge of this conversation I was introduced to ten years ago – what is sufficiency? Where am I inside the context? What is its next expression through me out to the world? I started looking at the seven insights of leadership we have been developing with our clients. Where does it fit and how could I expand my research? What books and articles could help? What stories could I gather to aid us in our teaching and aid our clients in implementation? While I was building my source list, it hit me.

The next edge for me is to create a structured in-depth dive into enough, my own version of a Ph.D. in Exquisite Sufficiency. In academia a Ph.D. is conferred after years of work and research and a written thesis. I have put in almost a decade of experimentation, research and creation, and I declare now is the time for a thesis. I am going to spend the next year pulling together all we have learned into a format that will allow any organization or individual to create and craft a path toward Exquisite Sufficiency.

Today I declare this is the leading edge for me, and I offer an outline for my work for the next 12 months:

  • The diagnosis of a culture of scarcity
  • Define what is Exquisite Sufficiency
  • A living experiment
    • The history of Seven Stones
    • Our experiments
    • Accountability
    • Our future
  • A process for creating and leading the enlightened organization
    • The 7 foundations of an enlightened organization
    • Leading the enlightened organization
    • Acknowledging our Interdependence
  • Technology and Sufficiency – a necessary conversation

When I mentioned to Shea that I was getting a Ph.D. in Exquisite Sufficiency she said she was jealous. I told her that Seven Stones has a rolling admission and she could join me anytime; we both laughed. Then this morning I realized that anyone could join me at any time. For those of you who want to take time diving deep into the oceans of scarcity and emerging inside a created context of sufficiency for all or part of the upcoming year, let me know. I will be crafting an offering for those who are interested.

  • What is the next step for your growth and development?
  • Which writings from your industries’ leaders are important for you to read?
  • Who are the next 50 people you need to meet and connect with to expand your knowledge and skills?
